Sunday Quote – I am not cool.

18 Stop deceiving yourselves. If you think you are wise by this world’s standards, you need to become a fool to be truly wise. 19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness to God. As the Scriptures say,

“He traps the wise
    in the snare of their own cleverness.”

20 And again,

“The Lord knows the thoughts of the wise;
    he knows they are worthless.”

21 So don’t boast about following a particular human leader. For everything belongs to you— 22 whether Paul or Apollos or Peter,[f] or the world, or life and death, or the present and the future. Everything belongs to you, 23 and you belong to Christ, and Christ belongs to God. – 1 Corinthians 3:18-21 (NLT)

We are all uncool. I mean, we who are in this world but not of it.

We don’t do the “cool” things of the world therefore we’re uncool. But then, isn’t it so weird how the things of the world appear to be so interesting and fun? Yes, it is weird.

The real deal is, all that is like mist. It isn’t what it appears to be. There’s more bad than good.

16 For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world. 17 And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever. 1 John 2:16-17 (NLT)

Best be uncool to the world, it doesn’t matter because to God, you are more than cool and that’s the only thing that matters.

Our dedication to Christ makes us look like fools, but you claim to be so wise in Christ! We are weak, but you are so powerful! You are honored, but we are ridiculed. – 1 Corinthians 4:10 (NLT)

In reference to the world’s standard of being cool, a pastor in my church once said, “If anyone ever says to you, ‘you’re not cool’, you say to them, “I’m not cool because hell is hot”

So, begin your week uncool. There’s way more good than bad.

Have a blessed week!
